Gerald "Jerry" Cousino, 70 years of Temperance, Michigan, died Wednesday, October 22, 2003 in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. Born June 13, 1933, in Toledo, he was the son of Carlton and Lulu (McQuade) Cousino. A U. S. Army Korean War veteran, he married Suzanne Dusseau on May 9, 1959 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie, Michigan. Jerry started Temperance Body Shop in 1959, with former partner, Lester Fry, and continued to be active in the business. A high school graduate, he was in the Bedford class of 1951. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, American Legion, 514, 40&8, ARCA, and spent many years driving stock cars at the Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways. Surviving are his loving wife, Suzanne; children, Sherry Lynn Jones of Clinton Township, Michigan, Gerald "Jay" (Julie) Cousino of Ottawa Lake, Michigan, Jill (John) Nagle of Lambertville, Michigan, and Melissa (Eric) Zingg of Toledo, Ohio; mother, Lulu Cousino of Oregon, Ohio and fa! ther, Carlton (Dorothy) Cousino of Temperance; brothers Carl Cousino of Erie, Michigan, Roland (Carmen) Cousino of Temperance, Michigan and Dennis Cousino of Ottawa Lake, Michigan, and 9 grandchildren. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Friday in the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Road (at Jackman) Temperance, Michigan, where American Legion Services will be held Friday at 7:00 p.m. followed by Scripture services at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:00 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church where he will lie in state after 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or the American Legion Post 514.
