Beck had a studio in the City of Monroe 1904 to about 1934, the time of his death. He was born in 1874 in Monroe, and died in 1934 of a heart attack in his City home. He worked under C.W. Hill to learn his trade. He worked in Toledo for a year at first, then came back to Monroe. His studio was originally over the Hoffman Clothing Store on West Front St, then to East Front for a time, then back to over Hoffman's where it remained.
