I am descended from Gideon Sr. Cooley who is the son of Benjamin Cooley from Longmeadow Mass. Gideon and his half Bro. Benjamin left Mass. and went to Vermont, Benjamin stayed in Vermont in 1796 Gideon and 4 of his 5 sons left Vermont and went to Ontario Canada. In 1802 two of Gideons sons, Gideon Jr. and Calvin left Canada and went to Sargant township, Monroe County Michigan. We know Gideon was married and had children. We don't know what the names are. We don't know if Calvin was married or not. It was a common practice to name sons after the fathers father or after uncles.
