Surnames: SYMONS (Symens) Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UGB.2ACI/1772 Message Board Post: I am trying to locate information on Henry E. Symons(Symens) who was born in Devon, ENG in 1843. He immigrated to the US and I have found him on the 1880 Census for Amber, Mason Co, MI living with the Wm Garlock family. Henry is listed as married and a gristmiller which is correct. But his wife Tamzin is not listed in that household. In Oct of 1880 she gave birth to a dau.,Tamzin. Where could she be? Three more children were born to them: Jonas Edwin 1885, Laura 1887, and Fannie 1892. If someone who has access to the 1870, 1890, 1900 Census for Mich or Mason Co could look to see if they are on them, I would be a very happy camper! Thanks!

I recently volunteered to help with the transcriptions of Bedfords local history and our town Historian Trudy Urbani. Do you know the address of the Venia farm? Have any additional data on the General Store? She is also very interested in any family photos where you may know the names. Please let me know if you can help in this regard. I went to her home and her collection of historical information on Bedford is massive in size. In about a year she will donate the records to the local library. She is amazing, she spends eight hours a day gathering historical records in our community. Well let me know anything your willing to share on the Venias and we can get it recorded locally. Do you have family tree software with the Venias in it? I remember I had the names wrong based on information you gave me before so I cant give her a family tree file since it contains to many errors.

I have some info about the parents of Mary and Elizabeth, which I have on my web site at http://www.gencircles.com/users/kb5nju . Please feel free to take a look and send whatever additions and corrections you may have. Thanks! I could have photos of Frank in family gatherings. I remember my Grandmother, Lyda, talking about the broommaking. When Cecile's studio was dismantled in the early 80's or late 70's, many of the photos and negatives were dispursed to the rightful families. I was given the duties of going through boxes upon boxes of negatives and prints to sort out which families they were to go to. If Jewel was alive at that time, I'm sure that she was given the photos. Cecile was close to her. I will definitely look as I go throuugh my stack of photos. I know where there is one box, but the photo albums are not in that. These are loose photos. I'll see what I can find.

I have only 2 photos on my dads side and none of the Venia side. I am planning on writing a book on my side but at this point it would lack interest without visual aids so any thing you can provide would certainly be appreciated. I would think you may have photos of Frank McCready and dont even know it. Frank and Cecil were very close from what I understand. Frank used to live with Cecile and her family when he was a young boy. I talked to one Venia family member this year in Temperance who remembered my grandpa Frank making brooms in the basement of their home.

Yes, we emaled each other fairly extensively a couple years ago. We have moved and are trying to findthings. I do think I have a picture of great Aunt Edith, abd will continue to look for the albumn that they are in. We now have a scanner and a decent computer so when we get the scanner hooked up to my computer, I can send you what I have. I was suprised when I learned from my Mom that Cecile was at one time an industrial spy. Her employer in Toledo (sorry, I don't remember which one) asked her to spy for them. I think it was sometime in the late twenties or early thirties Somewhere I have some intersting photos of Aunt Cec...one on the running board of a fancy car with some sort of long feather or fur stole on, and a few of her riding and jumping horses with my Dad and her youngest brother Bill (E. William Venia). The three of them had great times at the Chuch Howard Stable which was in the old Secor Road Armory of the 107th Cavalry (my Dad was a Master Sergeant in the War in the 107th - which was founded by George Armstrong Custer) When I can get to them, I'll send them, too, along with the other photos that I have that she took. BTW, she also did another choir boy Christmas card with my brothers, Albert R. Clark III, and Thomas J. Clark in their acolyte robes. Somewhere I have a bunch of these! photos.
