She would have entered the Order about 1841 and died in January of 1894 and I believe she is buried in Monroe but not sure just where, did the Sisters have their own cemetery? I do understand that St. Mary’s Academy is no longer in operation. However I would assume that the old records of St. Mary’s Academy are located some where, if anyone could get me an address or a phone number so I could do further checking it would be appreciated. Thank you, Jim

She was a Waner (we always spelled it Wehner) and was born in Pendleton, NY, in 1846. Nothing is said about her parents but her three living sisters at that time were Elizabeth Waner Smith of Tonawanda, NY, Fannie Waner Sutton and Annie Waner Hartz of Buffalo, NY and two living brothers: Adam Waner of Tonawanda and John Waner of Buffalo. My great Grandmother, Mary Waner Bund, married a German man, Daniel Bund in 1865 and moved to Michigan in 1869. They attended the German Catholic church here in an area that was mostly German Lutherans. Two of Daniel and Mary's children were born in Pendleton. Looking for anyone with links to these names? I’m a genealogist just like you are. This is kind of long, but well worth reading! I found a way to use FOIA in genealogy to request records that actually results in moving your search along. In my every day professional work I use the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) to acquire records from all areas. The FOIA is a tool that is available to everyone. The request is free but it can be very confusing. You have to know where to send it, you have to have the right request form, a properly worded letter, you have to know what type of information they need to get you what you are looking for. You cannot just send in a generic "find this" request. Using the proper request, the proper form, a properly worded letter you will get the documentation you are seeking. I received 84 pages in the first probate request, two weeks later, an additional 124 pages. All stuff they copied from microfiche. At $ .10 per page. Some of these re! cords went back to 1838. I will send you the forms (both State and Federal), the request letter, what you need to send them in terms of specifics, if you have them, or if not, where and how to find them. I have compiled a list of each State’s statutes and codes that you will need to reformat the request form for your particular State or the State you are sending the request to. I have included some specific searching directions and examples that may help you. For those of us who have been unable to get to an out-of-town location or to afford a researcher it's great. My email is genealogyprincess@hotmail.com or klawler@batorberlin.com. Please only use these for responses. I’ll be happy to answer questions! I will be happy to help anyone with any additional information or reformatting the forms for other states, other data requests, etc. Any other requests for help, I will send a form. I am requesting $6.58 for paper, copying, assembly, large envelope, and postage costs. This package of information is 22+ pages (and growing) -- and I had no idea this would be responded to in such huge numbers (!!). So, if you’re interested, send $6.58, personal check is ok, [Kathy Lawler] to Genealogy Princess, 20757 Camden Square, #210, Lathrup Village, MI 48076 or use my Paypal address [checking] for $7.00 to Genealogyprincess2000@yahoo.com. Either way, don’t forget your address!! I will send you the information the very day I receive your address and funds. Lastly, additional information, new ways I can come up with to use FOIA will be sent to you free of charge and I’ll also be happy to answer any questions you may have. This is strictly to get you! information that will help you gather documents and information to further your search for your ancestors. Thanks! Kathleen Lawler

I have viewed the census of 1850, 1860, 1870, ans 1880. In 1850, his wife is listed as Augusta with 2 children, Charles and Margaret. In 1860, his wife is listed as Theacle with children, Charles, Mary A.(Margaret), Matilda, Marcelus, Anthony, Mary, and Louisa. In 1870, Elizabeth is Antoine's wife with children, Baptiste (?), Antoine, Mitty, Lewis, Augustus, Maxime, and Mary, along with son, Charles, wife Jane, and children Charles and Felicia. In 1880, Eliza Jacob is a widow farmer with children, Dubois (?), Maxime, Augustus, and (Mary) Victoria, living with Antoine (b1855) and wife Mary (Reau)and 2 daughters (Carry and Pela (?)). Also, next door is (Baptiste) Jacob with wife Josephine and children, Joseph and Mary. My question: do you know if Antoine b1823 was a widower at some point (twice?) or are these all different names for the same wife? I have some info on Pierre Jacob a! nd wife, Josephine Auban. BaySettlement of Monroe County, Michigan by Lambert M. LaVoy c. 1971 lists entries on pages 238, 256, and 258 for the baptisms of Catherine Jacob born oct.27,1821, Celeste Jacob born June 6, 1826, and Marianne Jacob born July 28, 1832. All daughters of Pierre Jacob and Josephine Auban (Ruban, Xuban). These records are of the mission church, St. Joseph Parish, Erie, Monroe County, Michigan. I hope that this is helpful in your search.
