Hi all, Just wondering if anyone could tell me if there was a sawmill located in or around Menominee, MI in or around the 1860's? The reason I ask is my grandmother wrote in a family history book that her grandpa came to America with a family by the last name of Allgeyer. Supposedly they owned a sawmill... but her notes don't say where in America they owned this business. Since he (my great, great grandpa) & his wife had their first child in Birch Creek, MI and one of their middle children in Grand Rapids, MI & their last child in Daggett, I was wondering if the sawmill would be located in or around those areas. I realize that Birch Creek & Grand Rapids aren't in your county, but I'm desperate for any help I can get! Also, how would I go about finding out who owned the sawmill? Thanks for your help!!
