    2. Hi What a wonderful exercise! Thankyou! Civil War: Peter McKeever, Wisconsin 23rd Infantry. Served from 1861 to 1865 wounded in the line of duty, but do not know where. Spanish Amer. War: Elizabeth Perkins.....a nurse in the Phillipines, married Ed House, had a child, returned to the US with the child was not believed that she was married, but admired for her service to the country. Then her husband showed up after being mus- tered out. Wonderful lady, had several more kids, was a crack shot at hunting. World War I: My Uncle, Arnold Tomseth. Oldest of the 15 children of my immigrant Norwegian grandparents. All 5 of their sons served their country during war time. Arnold served in France, discharged honorably, never married died of pneumonia in 1929....family stories relate his death to gases used in France. Charles Jesse Jones, my step father, served his country in France. World War II: My dad, Edward Herbert Tomseth, US Army, 529th engineers, light pon- toon division. Served 1941 to 1945. Seriously wounded on Normandy June, 1944........died July 1967. Uncle Burt Tomseth....US Navy Pacific Theater Uncle Hersey Tomseth.....US Army, Pacific Theater.....son became Ambassador to Laos, earlier son had been one of the Iranian Hostages. Uncle Henry Tomseth.....US Navy Laron Spurgeon Franklin, Lt Cmdr. US Navy. Served on the Chevalier, the Wedderburn and others in the Pacific Fleet. He was my father in law. Died Nov. 1967 Elizabeth Mary Perkins Franklin Wiedower. Lt.j.g. US Navy Waves. first WAVE from Minneapolis....served in intelligence. My mother in law. My Uncle Wesley Whitsett....US Navy, served in Pacific....was in Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. My great Uncle Earl Elliott.....US Army, Pacific theater. Phillipines, Vietnam: Praise God, all the men I know who served in Nam are living. There are 10 of them....all bear the effects of this awful conflict. Gulf War: Regina .......RN, friend, co-worker who was one of the first reserve units of nurses called up and the last unit to return from Saudi Arabia. She served her country in active duty status for 17 mo. She has 4 children and a husband who prayerfully and patiently waited for her return. She has not been well since her time of service. Thankfully I have no one close to me serving in the present conflict. Joy
