    3. Hi MIMENOMMERS, I feel more ignorant than usual... Is the prepend thing something most list-members need to do/change, or is it just a matter for list administrators? My thoughts on subject lines may or may not be related to prepends. Here they are: I'd much rather see a subject line like "Re: Boyer 1870's Gardiner MI" than a too-easy-but-uninformative, reply subject line, such as "Re: MIMENOM-L#78" -- who but an addicted genealogist would want to open such a message? Maybe the pattern to encourage is: "[MIMENOM] Boyer 1870 in Gardiner" and "[MIMENOM] Re: Boyer" OK, OK, this is serious stuff. Hope we can figure it out. Thanks for putting up with me, Barb G.

    3. Barb, I thought I was the only one who felt ignorant. I totally agree with your suggestion. A lot of the WI sites do this. For example their message comes across as: [WIDANE] Re: Photo of unknown. 3. The Prepend setting is merely a matter of checking a box on the List Utility page but it can only be done by the list administrator and it applies to all messages that come through the list in both single and digest mode. I am the administrator for 5 other lists and have access to the person who oversees the operation of ALL Rootsweb lists. Since it appears that no one has heard back from anyone about the prepend request, I'll check with her to see if this list is one of the orphans that functions without anyone at the helm.
