My great grandmother married a man named Dan Murphy in 1913 in South Dakota. However, when they retired to a Veteran's Home in the 1930's he suddenly took the name Sherwood Stephenson born in 1871 in Michigan to Matthew and Anna Stephenson! All the records list him as Sherwood after that, even his death certificate so I believe that is who he really was. If anyone has connections to the Stephenson family mentioned, I would love to hear about this family and maybe solve the mystery. Matthew Stephenson was born in Maine and his wife in New York.
