Isn't it sad that we HAVE to do this when an option that takes seconds to employ is there to be used? But, I agree, you could use the filters and use the folders.....but I do not have the option to use either.... It has to do with being at different machines in different cable and telephone line areas.... a real bummer.... the Prepend is SOOOOOOOO much simpler.... MImeno does it for me! valentine ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Kris" <kris@webcntrl.com> To: MIMENOMI-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: about the prepend........ Date: Thu, 4 Apr 2002 19:41:14 -0600 Hi All, One way I solved this problem (no prepend) is I created a folder under my inbox and set the settings so whenever I get mail with MIMENOMI-L in the address line, it automatically gets moved into my MenomineeList folder. I have several of these folders set up as I am on numerous lists and get several hundred e-mails a day and I needed to find a way to separate my important e-mail from all that junk mail. This method also makes deleting all the junk a lot easier because I don't have to be careful when deleting. Now all my important mail safely goes into it's designated folder. To do this in Outlook or Outlook express, just go to tools and click on rules wizard. It walks you right though and only takes a few minutes to set up and you can create as many different folder and subfolders as you need. At least by having the e-mails from this list automatically moved into it's own folder, you'll have a way of knowing it's from this list before you even open it. Hope this helps some of you in case the admin chooses not to activate the prepend. Kris ==== MIMENOMI Mailing List ==== Have a sailor in your family? Hi to the list...... I have been reached from a few on the list that the list (or the list owner) does not want the prepend. I do not recall very recent conversations on this and would like to know the current status.... As with anything that allows an option, there are bound to be reasons for or against. For those that think it 'steals' too much from the subject line... take a look at the archives... MImenoMI or MImeno would not adversely affect the subject lengths noted in recent times.... and those that are lengthy....the subject line was being used to expound! For those that think I should filter..... No, I cannot filter...I do not have the option in my situation. For those that think I should OPEN the message...you miss the point. I DO not WANT to OPEN something that is coming from someone I do not know....I do not know ALL the people writing to the list, but the PREPEND is a first line key that I can use to censure my incoming mail....... manually... remember I cannot filter! FOr those that just don't have a preference, then let those that DO have a preference have your vote FOR the prepend.... valentine____________________ at valentine53179@hotmail.com . . . . . _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
This is a feature that can be turned on by the list administrator. It's the Prepend feature that is controlled in the list utilities. To contact the administrator of this list, you should send an email to mimenomi-admin@rootsweb.com. Most administrators are more than willing to honor the needs of the list members. I have my filters set to ignore all mail that comes to this email address without the Rootsweb brackets [ ] that get set around the prepended list names. Consequently, I have to constantly check my trash folder for mail from two lists that haven't added the prepended name yet. It's a real pain to constantly be doing this. --- JTarr86758@aol.com wrote: > > If you all would put the name Menominee in the subject line a lot > more people > would open and read. If you all would put the name Menominee in the subject line a lot more people would open and read. I know there are others that do not open mail if they do not recognize the sender. We have no way of knowing if it is just more spam. This subject has been mentioned before, that shows how many are missing the point.

I would still like to figure out what happened to Angel. We know she was part Menominee Indian and gave up her Indian rights in 1849. She had one child (James) at the time. So Mary would have been the second child. I would like to find the marriage license of Augustin and Antonette (second wife?) or could it be that when Angel gave up her Indian rights, she changed her name too. Just a thought, no proof. The first marriage that was in Canada will probably not have been recorded. But the second marriage in Green Bay or Bay Settlement, which was where the homestead was, should be recorded somewhere.

I am looking to fill out my family with cousins and more cousins. Elijah Roberts was my great-great-grandfather who was in the 1864 Portage Township Civil War ennumeration with his brother Thomas. Elijah was married to MaryAnne Hooper in Chacewater, Cornwall, England. Thomas married Mary Jane Porter in 1867 in Houghton County. In January 1867 Elijah and Mary Anne had a son in Houghton County, Elijah Hooper Roberts. In the 1870 census both Elijah and Thomas were in Ishpeming Township, Marquette County. Thomas was a widower. In 1873 a daughter MaryAnne Hooper Roberts was born in Vulcan to Elijah and Mary Anne. They were there in the 1880 census and the 1884 ennumeration. Thomas lived with them. Also in the area was a brother -Enoch Solomon Roberts and his wife Grace Blight Roberts- and a nephew, son of Enoch, Enoch Roberts and his wife Lilly Vaughn Roberts. By 1891 Elijah was in Marquette County, in an area of Negaunee called Cornishtown. He was a widower and married Eliza Prisk Craze. Eliza's daughter was married to John Jennings. Was anyone on this list acquainted with Beattie Jennings, a school teacher? I cannot find the death cert for MaryAnne Roberts Sr, though Grace Blight Roberts died in Stambaugh. She was buried there but was later transfered to Ishpeming to be buried with her husband, Enoch, MaryAnne Hooper Roberts married Wm John Smitham in 1891 in Negaunee. After several moves, they settled in Stambaugh about 1910 or 1911, her obit lists her as a 'pioneer', and both are buried in the Stambaugh Cemetery. Would anyone with any connection or knowledge of these people please contact me. Thank you, ...Kathleen PS I am already in contact with my cousin Ron in Iron River.

I am writing because of an article in the Better Homes and Gardens Issue April, 2002. This is the American answer to the "1900's House", WNET production "FRONTIER HOUSE". You can see a slide show at www.bhg.con/frontier Apparently, the documentary will air on some PBS stations on April 29, 30 and May 1, 2002. It might give us a little more insite on how hard life was in the 1880's after the early generations arrived here from their homelands...... of course it might have been like this even for those that arrived much earlier..... I personally suspect that the trials were the same throughout the wilderness areas.... not just OUT WEST...... valentine____________________ at valentine53179@hotmail.com . . . .Get more from the Web. Hello all! Am new to this list and have just broken thru one of my walls from Wisconsin to Menominee, Michigan. Looking for a John Barrett DOD 5 Aug. 1885, Menominee, Michigan. Have no death CERT but would like one. Also, he had a brother named Thomas Barrett living in Menominee at the same time. State census? Was wondering if there were obits out there? death certs? Etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated to point my nose in the right direction. Hard to search from California. Thank you for your time and consideration in reading this in advance. Dawn Endos@aol.com
