I think that they were originally from the Minnesota area and he was the only Kuich from his family who emigrated to Canada and farmed in Alberta. I believe that Mary Hansen's parents were also named Mary and Joseph and were from Denmark. We have had a difficult time finding information about Joseph and Mary Kuich's family as they remained in the U.S. and nothing was said about them. The email address which I submitted through this message board was incorrect. My e-mail address is alliancebg@idirect.com if you would like to contact me. 1. [MIMENOMI] COLLEEN'S DECEMBER CHALLENGE
    2. Colleen Pustola
    3. Hi everyone, Last challenge of the year, coming up!... December is the month many of us celebrate a special child's birth and gift-giving is at its highest level. Since giving is the predominant, worldwide monthly theme, we're going to pick up on that. This month's challenge is two-fold: 1.) Send in your births and christenings from people born in the county; and/or... 2.) Send a gift to the list. Gifts might be be: * census extractions for a family or two, or perhaps the entire county! * a list of names on a year's tax records * a biography * 3-4 generations of a family * a will * a deed * county obituaries for a given period * immigration/emigration records * a family's bible record Your gift doesn't have to be limited to what I've given above; those were just some ideas. The point of this is to give a gift to the list and have some fun doing it. Select one or both challenges to work on ~ it's your choice. I hope you'll all have a safe and happy holiday season. Colleen

    3. If this is not at your local Library, try the one in Iron Mountain. They have a really neat genealogy section with lots of booklets from centennial celebrations, from other counties as well as local. Another place to check is the LDS library. I am assuming you already checked with the church or that it is not in existance anymore. ...Kathleen http://freepages.cultures.rootsweb.com/~kernow/kc1.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: <jadon@vcn.com> To: <MIMENOMI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, 27 November, 2002 9:34 PM Subject: [MIMENOMI] the Carney Evangelical Free Church Centennial book and oral family history. | This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. | | Surnames: Peterson, Gustafson | Classification: Query | | Message Board URL: | | http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RGB.2ACI/396 | | Message Board Post: | | I am Looking for information regarding a book called the Carney Evangelical Free Church Centennial book and oral family history. 1. [MIMENOMI] Charles Bernardy
    2. Anna Marie Schuh
    3. I wonder if any one has any thoughts about finding my grandfather's birth certificate. He is Charles Bernardy, the oldest son of Michael Bernardy and Maggie Kullman. Family folklore was that he was born in Menominee on 5/10/1890 and moved to Chicago with his family when he was a small child. His social security application confirms that he believed that he was born in Menominee. But I have written both Menominee County and the state of Michigan and neither can find him. Menominee County did find a record for his brother John. The birth record misspelled the surname as Bernardi, and it was filed in July 1892 although John was born in on 8/31/1891. I assume that the family filed John's birth certificate just before they moved to Chicago. I know that they were in Chicago in October of 1892 because their third son Michael was born there. I would expect that if the family filed one delayed birth certificate for John, they could easily file Charles' at the same time. But that doesn't appear to be the case. Charles' father Michael was from Irsch, Germany and I have been unable to find any ties to Menominee for him. Charles' mother was Maggie (Margarethe, Margaret) Kullman from Manitowac, WI. Her parents were Jacob Kullman and Anna Maria (Mary) Wallau both of whom originally came from Gau-Algesheim, in Hessen Germany. I have found them in the 1880 census in Kossuth, WI and property records indicate that they owned a farm in Kossuth. Margarethe and Michael were married in Manitowac Rapids on October 30, 1889. Any help someone can give me in figuring out this puzzle would be greatly appreciated. Anna Marie Bernardy Schuh

    3. Hello I just wanted to thank everyone who has been so kind to me in these two groups. I am so thankful for your help. I had searched for years for information on my great uncle Robert Walker and his wife with no luck at all. Then a friend found them in 1920 census living in Menominee A wonderful gentleman in Menominee spent a whole day checking information for me. And because of that information I was able to go to Manitowoc. Where I was also helped by a very nice gentleman. I know this is not family tree information and I am sorry if I offend anyone for posting it but I just wanted to thank a wonderful group of people and tell you what a great job you have done on recording your history. From the manitowoc Co. site I discovered a bio sketch from the "History of Manitowoc County, Wisconsin" where my great Aunt's parents and grandparents are listed. Once again I hope that all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and thank you . Linda Ottawa, Ont. Canada
