They are my husband's GGG Grandparents In the 1870 Census they were in St. Joseph Co. MI and by 1900 they were enumerated in Dickinson Co. MI 1880 Mecosta Co. Shallow W F 1 Dau MI Can NY >From what I've been told the Shallow name was originally Chalut. Some of the family stayed in Michigan while others moved to Pulaski Co. Arkansas and Superior Wisconsin. Two of the daughters of Oliver & Lucy married Buchanan brothers. I've been told there is a book on the Shallow and Chalut families though I've Never been able to view a copy.
