I am still trying to find information about: Charles Hawkins, born 1845 Vermont, lived in Mecosta County and is on 1870 and 1880 census.  1900 census he was  in Kent County.  He had wife Lucinda (Willett), children Asa, Corintha, Charles, and Ella.  Charlesdied in 1901 and  is buried in Hanover Cemetery, Hanover, Jackson County, Michigan with parents Silas Emmett and Clarinda Hawkins.  Charles left wife and children sometime after 1880 and may have had another family.  Any information on this mystery man is appreciated. Mariah H. (Swick) Foster, born 1842 in New York and died in Mecosta County in 1926.  I have marriage and death certificates, but her Father's name is given as unknown Swick.  Mariah was married to Simon P. Foster and they had children Laurence Adelbert, Nellie J., Franklin, Estella, and Edith.  Her Mother was Mary Rockwell and Father was unknown Swick.  Would like to know if their are any relatives in the area and if anyone knows anything more about Mariah.

Charles Hawkins is still in Mecosta Co. in 1884, as he shows up in the Mecosta Co. directory, but, there are two of them. One was a Charles Foster, who was a laborer in Mecosta and the other was a farmer on Section 2, of Aetna Township I show Simon Foster in the 1884 directory as a farmer on section 24 in Colfax Township. You probably have this info, but, thought I would mention it just in case.
