Hi Jan. I was so excited when I saw that Decker Cemetery had finally come online. Boy! Was I due for a gigantic disappointment!!! Do you have any idea when this 'walk-thru' was done? I looked, eagerly, for my family and for whatever reason, not a one was listed. Nada. Zip. Zero. I know they are not figments of my imagination, as you had given me a note about an aunt who is buried there. I looked through all three of the listings, very carefully, and they are still not there. There should be at least 5 Staffords, and other family members, but they are just not there. Could you explain this, please? Thank you, Bonnie >From: "Jan Cortez" <cristian@netonecom.net> >To: MIMECOST-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [MIMECOST] Decker Cemetery now online! >Date: Sun, 30 Mar 2003 09:48:29 -0500 > >Thanks to Marge Hough for taking the time to transcribe Decker Cemetery for >the Mecosta County Website. > >I have a few more if anyone is interested in transcribing. Bonnie, I looked thru the Database of Rogers Mohnke Funeral Home records from 1899-1949 and I do find two Staffords, both buried in Decker Cemetery, but one died in 1922 and one in 1924. It is conceivable that the stones were made of such that they didn't weather the winters here very well. I might also mention that Marge who typed this for the site is going to go thru the cemetery again, possibly this summer if she gets to the area.
