My great great grandfather died December 24, 1872. He normally lived in Hillsdale County, however he was visiting his sons in Missaukee County and was traveling back home when he got sick and died in Big Rapids. Normally he had no connections to Mecosta County. The death occured Christmas Eve in Big Rapids MI. Is there an "official" place on a death record or death certificate where it is marked if a body is "shipped" away from the County where the death took place if that is what happened and requested by relatives - OR - if the body was kept through the winter in a local vault if the death happened Christmas Eve. The death record shows it was recorded July the next year. - OR - do you have to ask the County Clerk specifically on this? Can NOT find a burial of him in Missaukee or Hillsdale Co. Maybe he WAS buried in the Big Rapids area. How to find? Doug Caldwell --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - now with 250MB free storage. Learn more.
