Per the "HandyBook For Genealogist" Mecosta County 400 Elm St. Big Rapids, MI 49307-1849 616-592-0783 (area codes were changed some time ago.. and I don't know if Mecosta was included - so the prefix area code could be different) County Clerk has birth and death records from 1867 and Marriage, divorce and civil court records from 1859 Probate Court has probate records from 1864 Register of Deeds has land records from 1859 FYI: Mecosta was attached to Newaygo and Kent counties prior to 11 Feb 1858.
