Mabel Francis MEWTEN (my great-grandmother) was born 6 Oct 1882 in Ishpeming, Marquette (from IGI). Her father was William John MEWTEN from Cornwall, England - he was living in Ishpeming at the time of the 1880 census, but was then unmarried. I am new to research in the USA, and would greatly appreciate the list's help. Can I order a birth certificate, and if so, how? What details would be given? How can I find her parents' marriage? What information would a certificate, if available, provide? I cannot get to an FHC (large amounts of sea between me and the nearest) so cannot take advantage of any facilities provided there. Anne
