RootsWeb.com Mailing Lists
Total: 1/1
    1. [[MIMANIST]] AOL 6.0 Users - Must reformat messages to this list
    2. To AOL 6.0 users only - Last night, I tried 4 times to send a message to the MIMANIST list, and each time it bounced back due to HTML or MIME encoding. I found out the problem was with AOL 6.0, which I had just downloaded. This does not apply to earlier versions of AOL - 3.0, 4.0, & 5.0. If you have had this problem, here is the solution: 1) Compose the message, including a quote from any previous list messages if needed. 2) When done, place your cursor in the TEXT area of the message. Right-click with your mouse, and hit SELECT ALL. 3) Right-click again, and at the top select TEXT>NORMAL 4) Hit SEND NOW button without disturbing the message or altering it in any way. What this does is clear, for that particular message, any HTML coding or MIME encryption from your message to be sent. There is no permanent fix for this problem, you will have do the Mouse trick each time you send a message to the mail list. Most mail lists do not allow HTML or MIME, and Rootsweb lists follow this lead. The purpose is this: Some people can't receive MIME or HTML messages, so the messages are never distributed to the list. Rootsweb also disallows "Attached Files", which is a good thing, it keeps us from passing around computer Viruses! Nedra
