The publisher of the Beacon, Keddie & Son, used the basement of E. O. Thompson's building as storeroom for their past additions. This building burned as well as E. J. Kingscott's dry goods store, the Masonic Lodge, the post office, and Austin Richley's grocery store. Some clippings saved by pioneers survive and these are highly prized. Duane A.
