I am looking for the parents of John Baptist Porter. He died Sept. 1, 1924 in Bear Lake, Manistee County and was buried Sept. 4, 1924 at a Catholic Cemetary in Onekema. Does anyone on the list have a record of him? Does anyone know if the cemetary has anything online? I am also looking to see where his wife (Mary (Mallot) Porter is buried. I know she died in 1900. One of their children, Mary Harried Porter married my great-grandfather, Lucius Aldebert Richmond. Any help would be appreciated! Teresa

I have a family mystery I am hoping someone can shed some light on. I have a Helen Mae Jones married Ole Lindahl 3 Nov 1909 probably around Manistee MI. Helen already had a son and the first family rumor is that Ole Oleson Jr. came here from either Sweden or Norway and that he changed his name to Lindahl. We do not know the father of this son Roy Elwin Lindahl born 11 Dec 1907 Manistee MI Ole Oleson had a father named Ole Oleson Sr who married Rachel Anderson their children were Ole Oleson Jr b 11 Feb 1874 d. 15 Oct 1950 , Anton Oleson died in Manistee also and a Sophia Oleson that went back to her country. The second rumor is that Helen was living with a family as a housekeeper and that a Harry Cooper (working there too?) took it as a dare to sleep with Helen and she became impregnated. She lived there with the family until the baby was a couple months old before she went back home to her family. I have extensive research on her Jones family but I am trying to find the father of this child. Another older person who knew this family said that Ole Oleson and Ole Lindahl were not the same man. Do any of these people sound familiar to anyone else on this list?? Thanks Beth

The only information I have is that they lived in Manistee where Michael died possibly in 1924, and Anna died sometime in the mid to late 40's. I would love to gather some information for my mother, who has very few memories of her mother's family. Any help anyone can give me would really be appreciated! Thanks! HI Maryann, Thank you for taking time out and gum shoeing for the information you sent. This is the letter that is on the internet. Please thank Veryl Swanson for me. If I receive any feed back, I'll surly let you and veryl know. Your daughter JoAnn has slept most of the day. Don't know what ails her. But not life threatning, so don't worry any. I do know she is looking forward to spending a few days in beautiful Bear Lake before the year is gone. In a few days we will start thawing the goose that will grace the xmas dinner table. A 12 pounder - about 3 meals for JoAnn and I. At least a 5 lb duck is only good for one meal and no left overs. Our county is locked in with this ice storm, no-one is going anywhere.
