I am currently working on my brother-in-law's genealogy. He is Willard Luttman, his father is Willard Russell Luttman, grandfather is Russell Clarence Luttman, ggrandfather is John Luttman who was married to (name I was given) Emeransa Shippy. Most of the Luttmans are from Michigan and my sister and brother-in-law still live in Michigan. If you can provide any info I will pass it on to them. I know they will be excited to hear from a "cousin".

Hi, I have discovered on a DC for my Great Uncle John WHITE, that he was born in Manistee County, Michigan, but his parents were both born in Prussia, Peter WHITE married to Anna SKERA White in Pennsylvania. My mother said that her mother told her that the WHITE Family name was WHITEKO or something like that, and that they had a furniture store of some type in Michigan. Can someone point me in the right direction for researching Manistee County, Michigan online? Would be interested in circa. 1870, 1880, or perhaps I will get REAL lucky, and connect with someone who has information about the family. Thanks. -- Edward DUNLEVY+ List-Owner PAFAYETT-L@rootsweb.com
I have found a relative's death in the GENDIS database: CRANE, Mary died 4 Sep 1882 in Manistee City How likely would a newspaper of the day carry this death as an obituary and how could I obtain it? Thanks for any and all suggestions. Kathleen Craine Chicago

I have just taken over the position of State Coordinator for Michigan at www.genexchange.org. During the last year genexchange was off line, while off line many of the coordinators became involved in other projects and did not return once the web site was up and running again. So now as coordinator I am in need of someone to head up the Manistee site. You do not need to live in the county, but it helps in acquiring documents from the library and elsewhere. If you love doing genealogy, gathering information and making it available to others on the internet, then you might be the right person for this position. Visit the site above, and go to Michigan then counties, select Manistee and click on "adopt me." There are other counties available as well. You can go directly to the MI website by entering this URL - http://www.genexchange.org/state.cfm?state=mi
