Your original message must have skipped thru my e-mail. I don't know if we are related. I know the my gr-grandfather Albert Wieczorek (Wechorek) (1861-1947) was an only son but with all the Wieczorek's in Manistee I am hoping there could be Uncles and cousins. Albert's parents were John Wieczorek and Julia Kuehn. Albert may have had a half brother named John.

I would be interested in the picture that you refer to in your note. Avon/Geneseo, NY have the 3rd or 4th oldest Fox Hunt in the country (Genesee Valley Hunt) and the Hunt still exists today on what was the Hogmire land. Let me know if you want any more info. 3. We maintain the Michigan Marriage Index Database that has over 430,000 records of marriages that took place in Michigan. As part of our database we record the email address of researchers that have an interest in the various records. We have many records that have email address that are no long valid for one reason or another. One example is the shutting down of "@home.com". We have attempted to obtain accurate email address for those that are no longer valid, but, this has caused an expression of concern for many subscribers to the various mailing lists as they feel that we are overloading the system. We will no longer attempt to obtain correct email addresses. IF ANYONE HAS PROVIDED US WITH EMAIL ADDRESSES TO ATTACH TO THE MARRIAGE RECORDS AND HAVE CHANGED YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS PLEASE SEND US A MESSAGE THAT INCLUDES BOTH THE "OLD" AND "NEW" EMAIL ADDRESS. With several thousand email addresses in the database we cannot check everyones email so please only send us a message if you have had a change. We have a Sokolowski who married a Wisniewski. The Wisniewskis' were in Manistee . Some came to Minnesota around 1905. The Sokolowskis' were originally from Vieana we were told. Maybe we can help each other in our search. Regards Sue W. Hi Sue, I posted this obituary to my list last week for Mary PASTALANIEC. I knew her, but was not related to her. Perhaps this will provide you with some fresh leads. Mary Skoloski of Republic, Pa., passed away Monday, March 24, 2003, in Brownsville General Hospital, Brownsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. She was born in Republic, a daughter of the late Frank J. PASTALANIEC and Cecilia ZGTOBESKI Pastalaniec. Mary was a member of the Church of the Madonna of Cardale, and a retired teacher from Redstone and Brownsville Area School District. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and a member of the Church of the Madonna Christian Mothers, the Rosary Society, DCCW, AARP, a life member of the Fayette County Public School Employees, Brownsville BPW, Republic American Legion Post 590, and a Charter member of the American Legion Post of Germany. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her busband, James SKOLOSKI in 1965; and a son, Joseph SKOLOSKI. Surviving are a sister, Irene Ferchak of Beallsville, Md.; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received in the Robert T. Kish Funeral Home, Inc., Legion Street, Republic, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday until 9:30 a.m., when a Prayer Service will be held. A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m., in the Church of The Madonna, with the Rev. Fr. J Stephen Bugay as celebrant. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, where Military Services will be accorded by Hopwood AMVETS Post 103. A Parish Wake Service will be held. Not related to me, but was an old friend, and former school teacher. I'm not certain, but I seem to recall that she had some grandchildren in the Fairmont, WVa. area. Good luck! -- Edward Earl DUNLEVY+ Researching WHITE's and SKERA's from Prussia and Manistee County, Michigan

He was adopted by his grandparents as he emigrated to Springdale, Manistee, in 1896. Maybe his new surname later became Larson (his grandfather was named Peter Larson), but, however, the census of 1900 reads John Backlund. According to it, he is in school. Does anyone know where I could find further information about students in such a school in Springdale, Manistee? Thanks. Sincerely, Anders

    1. [[MIMANIST]] Re: [[MIMANIST]] Mt Carmel Cemetary
    2. Obtaining Mt. Carmel Cemetery records is not easy. They are not online and so far that I know there aren't plans to do that any time soon. I understand that the earliest records were destroyed by fire when the old St. Mary's Church burned. The cemetery caretaker lives next door and doesn't respond well to mail requests, but both times I've gone in person, he gave me some grave locations - if you can find him. He told me that he only has fairly recent records dating from when he began being caretaker and that the remaining records are at St. Joseph's Church. I've written them and haven't received a response although Jerry Stege there has been MOST helpful in the past with regard to baptism and other church records. Good luck. Terri Brewer
