    3. Still looking for information on my ancestors - Ernst MARQUARDT - b. 1856 - ! Married Louise Siewert at Emanuel German Evangelical Lutheran Church, 17th and Pine Sts with Rev. Moll officiating. ! Pummern (Pommern) was a former duchy usually known as Pomerania, this small estate is now divided between East Germany and Poland. It was Protestant in the earlier years. ! Came to the U.S. at age 8 in 1864 with his mother, brothers and sister. His father, Henry Marquardt, preceded the family in 1863, coming from Germany to Detroit. He attended the Germany Catholic School for four years where his father was a teacher. At age 12, he worked at a sawmill. He married Louise at age 20 and had a job as freight hauler. He left that job to go to the 'car shops' at $.90 a day. His wife prompted him to take a correspondence course to become a stationary engineer and while a night engineer for the Detroit Bridge and Iron Works, began studying for the police examination. ! He became a citizen of the U.S. on May 1, 1880. Louise SIEWERT/SIEBERT wife of Ernst - b. 1856 - Germany Carrie Flora SCHNOOR - b. 1868 in New Baltimore - daughter of Max Christian SCHNOOR and Doris Louise KLEINFELDT. Carrie married Gilbert Hatheway in 1894 - son of and divorced him in Oct 1899. Have NO information on what happened to Gilbert once the couple separated!
