The following article was in the Detroit News today, 10/16/02: Utica Cemetery designated as historical site The sprawling Utica Cemetery on Shelby Road, which has graves dating back to the 19th century, has officially been named a Michigan Historical Site. The cemetery spans 14 acres and includes roughly 2,000 graves. Those buried there include a former postmaster, school superintendent and local business owners. A marker was placed at the site in early October and a ceremony was held.
