John Friday b. May 1858 in MI operated a furniture store on South Main Street in Lenox [Richmond] for many years. I have a photo of it somewhere in my archives. He was married to Martha ? b. June 1866 in Michigan. According to the 1900 census they had the following children: Louisa, William, Barnhard and Alfred. There may have been others born later. John Friday was the son of Jacob [b. 1823] and Fredericke [b. 1824] [Freitag] Friday. On the 1860 census, Jacob Friday appears living in Chesterfield, Macomb Co., MI [New Baltimore P.O.]. Since their 2 oldest children, William [b. 1857] and John [b. 1858] are born in Michigan, it seems that the couple may have gotten married in the U.S. rather than in Germany.
