Loraine DiCerbo shared this source with me recently and I thought others might be interested. At least two of the baptisms Loraine found are shown in Denissen as having taken place at St Francis Clinton River. Although I have not personal seen this source, I think it will prove helpful to many of us searching for French-Canadian ancestors. Source as described by Loraine DiCerbo, February 2006 I found a supplemental volume titled "Ste. Annes Church Register- External Parishes and Index, 1810-1833". This book (in French) covers the period just before Father Boheme's L'Anse Creuse Register begins. At the Burton Historical Collection, Detroit Public Library, it is located along the back left wall of the library, right next to the 7-volume collection of the Ste. Anne's Church Register. It's about 225-250 pages long, and it is almost all baptisms. There are a few deaths, but very few, and they are mostly children who died soon after birth. This source is often overlooked probably because the records are in French. It covers the years 1810-1833, and they are records that occurred locally, but external to Ste. Anne's, conducted by either the local priests (Fathers Richard, Dejean, etc.), or even general members of the congregation in the absence of a priest. For example, one of the Labadie children was actually baptized by Etienne Blait. Although the records are in French, names will be familiar and baptismal records are usually an easy to understand boilerplate. Lorelei Maison Rockwell
