OK, I love a good mystery, and it isn't like I don't have *anything* else I should be doing right now (yeah, right) ---- I went looking in the land records at http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ I found that a Michael Rivard had a land patent for land in section 23 (10/28/1835) in Macomb Co. In the 1860 census Michael Revoir shows up in Chesterfield with a son Mark (19).
