Thanks to Marilyn Arnold's clever idea, I got 6 hits in the 1860 census using Revoir/soundex/b1839/+/-2 MI/Macomb/Chesterfield Here they are: Abram Revoir Chesterfield, Macomb, MI 23 abt 1837 Michigan Male Frank Revoir Chesterfield, Macomb, MI 22 abt 1838 Michigan Male Mark Revoir Chesterfield, Macomb, MI 19 abt 1841 Michigan Male Oliver Revoir Chesterfield, Macomb, MI 22 abt 1838 Michigan Male Joseph Revoir Chesterfield, Macomb, MI 20 abt 1840 Michigan Male Peter Revoir Chesterfield, Macomb, MI 20 abt 1840 Michigan Male I don't know why all the hits are male... What about this guy? Or any of the other 5 ?? Name: Frank Revoir Age in 1860: 22 Birth Year: abt 1838 Birthplace: Michigan Home in 1860: Chesterfield, Macomb, Michigan Post Office: New Baltimore Household Members: Name Age Michael Revoir 66 Terris Revoir 51 Michael Revoir 27 Abram Revoir 23 **Frank Revoir 22** Mark Revoir 19 Salila Revoir 17 Polly Revoir 15 Adaline Revoir 11 Lewis Revoir 9 Good game. You are all coming up with some good ideas, and I think it is great that you are all posting to the list as well as to me individually so that others are also able to benefit from the ideas and techniques. I do plan on doing some property research, but will be unable to do it until at least next week. Besides this list has been far too quiet. Since I first posted this morning, I have located the approximate area as being in the western part of section 22 or the eastern part of section 23 on Callens Road just north of the Salt River. The 1859 Atlas is hard to read but it looks like a M Revoir (probably Rivard) may have owned the land in S23 and CC Little in S22. I have been able to eliminate a few of the people in Marilyn's list but have a long way to go, and will go through some of the older cemetery readings. The 'owner' said that the stone was about 6" under & said it kind of looked like a burial site, but he wasn't sure. Having no surname or given name sure makes it difficult. Working at Ancestry with the spelling REVOIR ONLY. These are actually RIVARD families. Thanks to Marilyn Arnold's clever idea, I got 6 hits in the 1860 census using Revoir/soundex/b1839/+/-2 MI/Macomb/Chesterfield Here they are: Abram Revoir Chesterfield, Macomb, MI 23 abt 1837 Michigan Male ELIMINATED Frank Revoir Chesterfield, Macomb, MI 22 abt 1838 Michigan Male SON OF MICHAEL Mark Revoir Chesterfield, Macomb, MI 19 abt 1841 Michigan Male IF MAGLOIRE, ELIMINATED Oliver Revoir Chesterfield, Macomb, MI 22 abt 1838 Michigan Male ELIMINATED Joseph Revoir Chesterfield, Macomb, MI 20 abt 1840 Michigan Male [TWINS, SONS OF DEC'D LEO] Peter Revoir Chesterfield, Macomb, MI 20 abt 1840 Michigan Male 1860 United States Federal Census > Michigan > Macomb > Chesterfield, image 13/56 at Ancestry, hh #186/185 This page has Abram, Frank and Mark --sons of Michael Revoir 66 and Terris 51. [Michael & Teresa, Denissen 1070, #32] There is also in hh #184/183 Abram Revoir, 19 living w/his probable mother Mary 47 and other family. IT LOOKS LIKE MARK IS MAGLOIRE IN DENISSEN, B 1839. IF HE IS, HE'S ELIMINATED, Denissen p 1075, #47. Michael's son ABRAM ALSO MARRIED AND IS ELIMINATED, Denissen p 1074,#46. Frank doesn't appear in Denissen?? U.S. Census > 1860 United States Federal Census > Michigan > Macomb > Chesterfield, image 42/56, HH #326/322. This page has twin brothers Joseph & Peter Revoir, age 20, living in the household of David 28? and Felis 19 Meldrum. [David Meldrum & Felicity Marsac, Denissen p817, #16] PETER AND JOSEPH ARE THE SONS OF LEO RIVARD AND AMELIA SAUCIER, THEIR BP APPEARS IN THE L'ANSE CREUSE REGISTER, Huron River, 14 Feb 1840, born 7 Nov 1839. Sp: Louis? Rivard & Anne Meldrum. And Agnes Rivard & G. J. Boheme. Leo appears in Denissen, p 1065, #15 iv [he too is a twin]. Leo d in 1857 and Amelia in 1867. The twins do not appear among their children in Denissen. Image 14/56 This page has Oliver Revoir, age 22, sailor, he's living with Lewis B. Revoir 39 and Delia 27 and family--next to Lewis B. Revoir 67 and Elizabeth 48 and family. ELIMINATED, MARRIED 1862, DENISSEN p 1074, #42. This accounts for 6 hits using REVOIR. 1870 might help eliminate some/all of the remaining 3 possibles on this list. We are assuming the data on the tombstone is correct....and that some kids didn't go playing a Halloween prank and bring the tombstone over from who knows where. Argh! DOB: Nov. 17 or 21, 1839 DOD: Oct 21, 1861 I ran 1839 and 1861 MI through the Family Trees on Rootsweb (I don't have the World Family Tree subscription on Ancestry). This is as close as I could come (keeping in mind...what if kids were playing pranks?) 1) Marion O. Crosby (m. George Miner Wight) was born 24 Nov 1839 in Redford, Wayne Co, MI and d. 20 Oct 1861 in Dearborn, Wayne Co, MI 2) Mrs. Martha Hadden (wife of James Hadden) b. 1839 and d. 23 Oct 1861 Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Washington Twp, MI (Note on Martha: The Macomb Co. web site lists her in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Was the cemetery walked and the transcriptions were made, or was this taken from records in the office? Also, George W. Hadden (son of James and Martha) died 30 Jun 1862 age 8 mo and 11 days. This would make him born 19 Oct 1861 and Martha dying 4 days later (complications from childbirth?)). I didn't see any listings on the Macomb Co. web site for Chesterfield cemeteries. Sincerely, Cheri Mello Torrance, CA
