Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IGB.2ACI/379.1 Message Board Post: In 1860 my great grandfather, Anthony (Anton) Michels was living with the family of George Brinker in Grosse Pointe Township which was then Wayne County. In that census George was married to Angeline J., children were Amandus, age 3, Romanus, age 2 and Cecilia, 1/2. In addition to Anthony, there was also a 16 year old boy listed; George Gates. Anthony Michels, his parents and brothers arrived 1852 from Prussia. In 1860 each of the Michels boys were living with different families but I couldn't find the parents. I suspect the Michels made Michigan their destination because family or neighbors were in the area before them. Have you found the surname Michels with a connection to the Brinker family in any of your research? Just to add to the puzzle, my grandmother, daughter of Anthony, married Jim Girard. Two of Jim's brothers married Brinker girls; Frank Girard married Angeline and Walter Girard married Antoinette. The plot thickens.........
