I was looking at the Macomb Rootsweb site and I read the histories and under one of them I believe it was Utica it listed Lewis Drake as Director of the poor. What exactly was this position. Lewis had a large farm next to his brother Hiram who also had a large farm. Hiram was my great great great grandfather.
