I'm going to do a little drive around tomorrow (on the way to my grandparents)and make sure which one it is before I say any more. I printed a copy of the picture up so I could show it to my grandparents. I found Anna Wakefield in the Macomb Co death records online at http://macombcountymi.gov/CLERKSOFFICE/deathRecords.htm There's a link that says "search via the internet". I looked to see if either was there to get an idea how contemporary they would have been to my grandparents. 1956 was the year. I'll be in touch! Tina

I do have pics of the house. As soon as my dad buys a new printer w/scanner I will get them scanned and I can email them to anyone at request. I don't have obits yet, not sure how to locate those. Also having trouble locating anything about Cyrus' wife, Anna (Getch) Wakefield. She died around 1956 I think. Cyrus then moved from that house to my grandfather's house in Royal Oak (43651 Dequindre). I also think Cyrus may have gone by the name Howard (his middle name).

There's another fieldstone house on Havenridge, between 29 Mile and 30 Mile by Smith Road. I spoke to my grandparents tonight and they didn't remember the name Wakefield. It's worth a shot, but a phone book may not help you much. When my grandparents moved out here in 1946, the nearest phone was the next farm over, a quarter mile down the road. (Actually the only phone on the road at the time.) They were unable to get a phone installed until around 1950. At that time Richmond included at least Richmond Township and Lenox Township. Until around 1991 our mailing address on the farm was still Richmond, even though we lived 3 miles closer to New Haven and had a New Haven phone number. The good thing is that I can only think of maybe 12 or so fieldstone houses :) and I'm estimating high. Do you have any obituaries? I know that in the 1950s addresses were still printed. Maybe something would show up in one. HTH, Tina

(Hi Phil!) If it is the house on 32 Mile Rd it is vacant and for sale. There is another fieldstone house on Havenridge between 30 and 31 Mile Roads, a stone's throw from the one on 32 Mile. There's also one on Gratiot, north of Richmond a couple of miles. It seems like I remember seeing one *in* Richmond at the north end, but I'm not sure and haven't had a chance to drive and look. I haven't remembered to ask my grandpa and see if the name rings a bell with him. He's an old farmer -- been up this way 61 years this year, so he may have heard something. Tina

West of Richmond on the South side of the road. It may be vacant now. I knew a George Wakefield who was a client/farmer, that, lived in Wales Twp. N. of Richmond in St.Clair County. Nice man ,crippled w/ arthritis at the last. He told me about his rental house & how the tenant had moved 1 night. about 1 year befroe Mr.Wakefiled was moving a manure pile from behind his barn on the rental property. As he was using his tractor to dig up the manure, for spreading on the field ,he came across some human bones. He called the MI State PD & the lab verified who she was & caught her husband in another state.Apparently he had killed her & buried her in Wakefields manure pile.Tragic. You might send an email for help to the Mt.Clemens Library where volunteers are there to help you.Excellent Genealogy dept. http://www.libcoop.net/mountclemens/genealogy.htm They have great resources & eager to help.Browse thier site , you may find what you are looking for. Also : try St.Clair Lib. if no successs.http://www.sccl.lib.mi.us/ Also: http://www.libofmi.lib.mi.us I am out of time as we have MD appts. & have to pack for our trip .I won't be of use until May as a result. While Ancestry is great (I'm a 4 year member) most of what you need tends to be available locally. I don't know where you are (ie Michigan or elsewhere in the US), but I suggest 1) the local Public Library in Richmond, or 2) the county library: http://www.libcoop.net/mcl/ 3) If you are in the DC area, try the Library of Congres. either try to get a "lookup" via this list, or perhaps hire a local researcher. First try, to call call the local or county library -- history/genealogy section of the library -- the librarians are usually VERY helpful! Once you get the ADDRESS, then you can contact the Macomb Co. CH to get a deed for the property at this address. Good luck! Marilyn Arnold Falls Church, VA
