Thank you. ***** http://www.historicaloregon.org/ This is a new site that has been started by a group called Historical Oregon Information Services. It is a non-profit group to help individuals and groups access information about Oregon and it's history. Our site includes free services such as "look-ups" on Oregon, newsletter and a guest book. We also have books at low prices covering Oregon cemeteries, Oregon towns and World War II. At Historical Oregon Information Services we hope that this may be of some use to members of your group. Our "Look-Ups" on Oregon page covers towns, rail stops, ferries, stage stops, hard rock mines and schools as well as other types of places in the state of Oregon. In the future we will have cemeteries also listed. In most cases we have included any of the above listed items that pertain to the location name. This, however, is an ongoing project and updating our files is being done constantly. Under the name of the location, in most cases, we have the county in which it is located, Post office, Rail Road, location and any pertinent information regarding the location name. Our newsletter is sent out bi-weekly and has information pertaining to Oregon and its history. In the newsletter we cover such things as name changes, multiple places with the same name, postal changes, new links, information about a place and other pertinent information about groups and their activities. We have link pages on genealogy and Oregon history. These links are listed in alphabetical order under appropriate headings. There are pages for genealogy and Oregon history with more headings to come in the future. At Historical Oregon Information Services we would also like to include any information regarding web pages, meetings and e-mail services pertaining to your group. We would be happy to include any of this information in our newsletter and or link pages for anyone that is interested. Thank you for your valuable time. We hope that this site can be of some benefit to you and or your group members in the event that any questions about Oregon arise. We hope to hear from you or anyone in your group, if you have any need for information on Oregon, in the future. Thanks again. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IGB.2ACI/171.1 Message Board Post: Weren't Anthony's parents' names on the death certificate? Do you know if he was born in Macomb County or Wayne County? You could try looking for births in the county registers that were microfilmed by the Mormon church. If you have his obituary, does it show any brothers or sisters. If Catholic and born in Wayne County, the Burton Historical Collection at the main Detroit Library has Archdiocese of Detroit Catholic church records on microfilm. Believe that the diocese includes Macomb churches. You could try looking at the baptismal records of parishes that served Polish congregations. If buried from a Catholic church, the death register may have his parents' names on it. If you know where he is buried, have you checked nearby graves to see if any names ended in sky/ski. Do you have anything with his social security number on it. The original SS application may have his name on it. Maybe there is someplace where you can find his business records if they required any kind of registration with civil authorities. Regarding the business address, are you sure it isn't Joseph Campau. Also, if he was married, his marriage certificate may have his parents' names on it. You can get a copy from the State but you would need to know his wife's maiden name and then I would probably explain that his name may be something other than Sky. Do you have any funeral cards with names that end in Sky/Ski. I would start looking at those on the census for 1900, 1910 and 1920 to see if Anthony appears and is the right age. What name was your grandfather using when you father was born? Do you have your Dad's birth certificate? Good Luck

Surnames: Sky Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IGB.2ACI/171 Message Board Post: I am in search of information which may lead me to the parents of my grandfather, Anthony Scott Sky who was born about 1899 and died 29 Nov 1946 in Macomb County, MI. Reportedly he had the following siblings: William, David, and Clara. All of them were reported to be in the Macomb Co., MI area around the time of Anthony's death in 1946. At the time of his death, Anthony Scott Sky lived in Utica, MI. He and his partner, Anthony Otrompke, owned a business "Sky's Radio Repair Service" at 12155 Jos Kampen Ave. in Hamtramck, MI. I am guessing that "Sky" was a shortened Polish name, but it is unknown what that name actually was. His death is recorded under the name "Anthony Sky".

Surnames: Wojda, Budnick, Skrzapknosky, Scribner, Wabieliski, Wassell Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IGB.2ACI/170 Message Board Post: I am seeking any information pertaining to the following families in Macomb County: Bessie Wojda b.Abt 1872 d.Abt 1946 Bessie Wojda married (1) to ? Wabieliski (or possibly Wassell) Children: 1. Clarence b.Nov 1899 m.Veronica ? and had Cynthia, Claudia, and Caroline. 2. Sophie b.Dec 1889 m.Joseph Mulka and had Genevieve, Mary, Virginia, Pauline, Justin, and Kenny 3. Michael b.Oct 1909 m.Haddie ? and had Wesley and Muriel 4. Emma m.? Burton and moved to Miami, FL where she disappeared in a hurricane. All of the Wabieliski children took on the name "Wassell" Bessie Wojda married (2) to ? Budnick Children: 1. John b.May 1911 m.Lucy ? and had no children Bessie Wojda married (3) to Frank Skrzapknosky Children: 1. Eugenia (living, details witheld) The Skrzapknosky name later changed to "Scribner". The above may or may not be completely correct. It is the best I have been able to obtain and piece together from living descendants. I am related to the above in that Eugenia (living) is my grandmother. She was born when her father, Frank, was 45 and her mother, Bessie, was 41 and does not remember most of the above individuals any longer. I am attempting to trace my ancestry and am finding the above family quite a mystery. Based upon Eugenia's birth certificate, her mother was "Bessie Wojda Budnick" from Milwaukee, WI and her father was "Frank Skrzapknosky" from Germany. Although a child of the Skrzapknosky marriage, apparently Bessie was still using the Budnick surname. Eugenia was born in Macomb county. No two living descendants of Eugenia have the same story regarding many of these individuals. Many facts for one person tend to get mixed up and applied to other individuals, and the rumors that have gotten involved over the years make it difficult to sort out the truth from error. I have been unable to locate any record of Bessie's death and/or burial, and it is unknown what happened to Frank S! krzapknosky following Bessie's death. According to family story, Frank Skrzapknosky came through Ellis Island at age 21 and was detained due to illness... however this can not be true as his date of birth disagrees with the story in that Ellis Island was not built yet. Any information pertaining to the above families that may help sort things out and/or possibly lead me to who Bessie's parents (or Frank's) were would be greatly appreciated. Maybe there is even a living descendant of one of Bessie's first two marriages reading this???

Following is the website for the Library of Michigan's online index and census images for the 1870 census. http://envoy.libofmich.lib.mi.us/1870_census/ Birth and death records were not required by the state until 1867 and there does not seem to be universal compliance. Marriage records should be available at the county level prior to 1867. Do you have his death record? HIs parents' names should be on there if the informant knew the names.
