    1. [MiMacomb] Schlunt, Kniffen
    2. Our family was in Macomb County from it's beginning. I am stumped as to where a couple of them came from. Agnes Kniffen (b.1883), married Charles Schlunt(b.14 mar 1873). Grandma says he was from Canada, but I don't know where or who his parents were. Agnes' parents were Ira and Louisa (Immen) Kniffen. Ira's parents were Daniel and Emily (Preston) Kniffen. I found an obituary for Emily in Grandma's things that said she was Rush, Monroe, New York. She came to Macomb with her parents in 1826. Her parents were Ira and Deborah Preston. Emily married Daniel Kniffen, whom the obituary says was a part of the party that came to Michigan with her father. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I am stumped as to who Daniel's parents were and where he came from. Anne

    3. Dear Fellow Researchers, Have been unsubscribed from this list for a couple of years. Now it is time to follow up on some unknowns and ask for your help. Does anyone know what source I can use to determine the ED number for the Selfridge Field Army base in the 1930 census? My grandparents, father & uncle were living there at that time. I lived there from 1939-1943 until my grandfather was transferred to Long Island. Anyone know the approximate population of Selfridge at that time? I also need the 1930 ED for S.Rose St & Market St in Mt. Clemens MI for other family members lived. Nancy M. Clay Meyers, Lorain OH

    1. [MiMacomb] Case surname in Macomb county
    2. sheryle
    3. Hi all, I know from published books and land records that Gabriel Case bought land in Lenox township ca. 1837. His land adjoined Sterling and William Case's land. Several other Case's bought land in Lenox township but it was not adjoining to these three Case's. I believe that Gabriel Case is the father of Clarissa, Mary, Laura Ann and perhaps Alonzo Case. Sterling was the father of Julia Ann Case. I have found Alonzo (who was listed on census as "idiot") living at various times living with both Mary and Laura Ann Case and their husbands. Clarissa Case married Benjamin Hocknell/Hacknell/Hackwell-his name is actually Hocknell but these are the various spellings that I have found him listed under. I have also come across an Emanuel Case m. a Cloey Barton in 1841, who may be a son of Gabriel Case as he is not listed in genealogies of Sterling Case nor is a Richard Case m. Caroline Clark 1838. These last two married in the same time frame that I know the elder Case's were in Maco! mb county which leads me to believe that they also may be children of Gabriel Case. Are there any Case researchers on this list who may be able to help me out and perhaps clarify any information on the above names? Thank you Sheryle Davis Tennessee [email protected]

    1. Re: [MiMacomb] Belle Isle Creamery
    2. Hi Dawn and all, I went and did a quick internet search on the Belle Isle Creamery and discovered - as you will when you visit the web site, that Vlasic Pickles took over the property - here is the Vlasic site: http://www.vlasic.com/history.html Here is another article with reference to the Creamery: http://www.www58195.w1.com/cin/history/chd/buildings/depots_375.htm I doubt this will answer all your questions, but perhaps at least, you can piece some things together. If you go to the search engine - google.com and type in Belle Isle Creamery - you will find many many more references that the two I mentioned above. Hope this helps - Happy Easter - Happy Spring - to all! Maggie Fallone Macomb Co Michigan Genealogy My grandfather worked for Belle Isle Creamery as a delivery man approx. late 1920's/early 1930's.  I'm not sure where Belle Isle Creamery was - possibly East Detroit.  I have a picture of a picture of about 50 men and 4 women (man in center has a trophy in front of him) with a sign in back of them that reads Belle Isle Creamery Co. and a building to the left with a Belle Isle Creamery Sign on it.  Does anyone have any information on Belle Isle Creamery or know of anyone who worked there?
