Mt Clemens Monitor Oct 24 1913 Devoted Mother Works Coup. Jennie Belle Alband, Viola Alband, and Florence Alband, aged ten, five, and eight years, precious children of Mrs. Frank C. Peltier, were adjudicated by Judge Reid Monday as needing the care of the state school at Coldwater. They were remanded to the custody of Mrs. R.J. Crawford for conveyance to the school. Tuesday these darling children were missing. It developed that they had been taken to Canada, where they now are and will remain, unless deported. Officials declare that if the whole family can be induced to immigrated, they will be satisfied. Judge Reid had Arthur Alband in court yesterday and gave him a judicial scolding that he ought to remember. He told him that he was adjudicated a ward of the court until he became of age, and that if he didn't behave himself, there would be something doing. The two other boys will also be wards of the court, and all three, for the present, will be left at home.

I too was surprised as I am sure almost any genealogy program will do GEDCOM. I use Legacy. You can download version 4.0 standard for free. No strings attached. It is an excellent program. Even the LDS FHC are installing it in addition to their free program Personal Ancestral File. I do use Family Tree Maker as it makes "pretty reports" but for nothing else. For good solid source and documentation I like Legacy. Here is where you can learn how to down load the free standard version. http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com Ann -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, May 08, 2002 10:07 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [MiMacomb] Gedcom & Genealogy Programs Regarding the recent MiMaComb-L posting saying: > Do you have family tree software? I do NOT know thier names. Maybe you could contact the school for the names. Maybe a forwarding address? If they do not give out theat info. ask if you supplied the cost of mail would they forward your request to them. I know it is a Wisconsin Synod School, so, where-ever thier archives are, is where you will find more data other than the phonebook. Good luck, Phil p.s. if you find Jimmie give him this message to return.

In trying to locate records for the Methodist church in Capac (St. Clair Co.) I was in contact with the archivist at the archives in Adrian for this area of Michigan (much of eastern lower Michigan). According to him, the churchbooks would be located at the local methodist church. If the church is closed, the archives can probably help you locate what church took over the members/books. Lisa
