    2. They were in Holmes Twp. in 1860. PW Kirtland could have been married by a passing ship's captain, or anywhere between Connecticut and Michigan or Wisconsin. He must have sent for his wife from Connecticut. He was the light house keeper on S. Manitou Island, which was part of Mackinaw Co. at the time, and is now in Lelanau Co. They could have been married in a Protestant church too.
