    3. Thank you all for clarifing the parentage of Antoine Martin. I have also seen it in other people's family trees as Phillip being Antoine's father. I have only been doing this for a few years. I apologize for believing that Phillip was his father. I do have the Ste Anne CD but just haven't reinstalled it. Thats this weeks project hopefully. My husband and I went up to St.Ignace today to drop our son off at his grandmothers. We took a ride up to Hessel where i was told there were St.Onges buried. We hit 2 cemeteries. One by Nunns Creek and other on 134 begining with a W, not far from Nunns Creek. No St.Onges buried either one. Did see lots of Rickleys, Moses, and a few Paquins. Other one had some Smiths, lots of Saute or sauto can't remember which it was. Again, I apologizing for believing Phillip Soud Martin was Antoine's father. Again also, Thank You all for setting me straight. 3. Be careful and avoid concluding too swiftly. The record shows only that Philippe was godfather to Antoine Jr. We ought not conclude anything else about the relationships. Philippe could have been Antoine Sr's brother or father. We are assuming because of the names that there is blood relation between Antoine Sr and Philippe. We don't know the rest of the story yet. 3. I found this information in the Mackinac Island CD. Louis Paquin, born December 2, 1816, of Pierre Paquin and of Marie Campbell, married by the civil judge, was baptized conditionally by us, the undersigned parish priest of Ste Anne du Detroit, August 13, 1821. The father was present. The godfather was Maurice Mata; and the godmother Ursule Leblanc, the wife of Alexandre Fraser, who declared that they could not sign their names when thereunto requested. Gabriel Richard, priest Catherine Paquin, born September 11, 1819, of Pierre Paquin and of Marie Campbell, married by the civil judge, was Baptized conditionally by us, the undersigned parish priest of Ste. Anne du Detroit, August 13, 1821. The father was present. The godfather was Maurice Mata; and the godmother Ursule Leblanc, the wife of Alexandre Fraser, who declared that they could not sign their names when thereunto requested. Gabriel Richard, priest The reason for the delay from the birthdate to the baptism may be partially explained by the fact that the pastor at Mackinac Island was headquartered in Detroit. He visited the Island (600 mile round trip on horseback) at intervals. He formalized interim ceremonies which had been witnessed at the time of commitment by elders and deacons appointed for the purpose. The elders or deacons may also have performed the priest's duties. Children's baptisms were not withheld because the parents were married by a civil judge. 3. My branch of Joly/Jolie is with Archange Joly, daughter of Joseph Joly Delbec and Marie-Angelique Goulet, married to Thomas Geoffroy, son of Jean-Francois Geoffroy and Marie-Amable LaPorte. Joseph's father was Joseph Joly Delbec. Thats all I have. I am descended from Archange and Thomas's son Joseph and they settled down in Huron County, MI. Haven't did much research into the Joly part yet. This is on my mother's side. Bonnie St.Onge __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo!
