Forgive me, i was confused by the wording somehow. I guess you meant that you had not seen "Topinabee "referred to as anything but Native american POtowatomie. sorry for this mistake- I failed to see the "but Native American etc." I am still confused though about the Madeleine >From jplalone@p... LaLone" <jplalone@p...> Following my comments is what I have on this BOURASSA line, 1) Where, if I understand your message right, did you determine that Topinabe is Rene BOURASSA II? The dates don't match (at least the dates I have!) Topinabe Sr. was b. 1758 and died 1826, he was the son of Anaquiba & Katabwe. Topinabe Jr. b. 1801-d. c.1840. Nowhere have I ever seen them referred to as anything but Native American/Potawatomi. Rene BOURASSA I, b. 1688-d.?, m. to Agnes GAGNIER Rene BOURASSA II b. 1718-d.1792, m. Anne-Charlotte-Veronique CHEVALIER. Rene BOURASSA III b. 1744-d.? Now, comments on my material below- I have heard that there are two Daniels, but no one has sent me any documentation, also that the two Theotis are the same, again no idea how. Perhaps Daniel left the first wife, married BERTRAND then went back to the first wife if indeed they are the same person?? I don't know, I do have three marriage dates though. As you can see Daniel had two Madeleines, the one did NOT marry her uncle. I think that the Madeleines are indeed Daniels as the baptisimals indicate that but of course the one was years later, so no definite proof, just have to take the church's word. Now I need some clarificitation: under the marriage of Madeleine BOURASSA & Joseph BERTRAND I have two Julias: Julia J. BERTRAND b. 25 May 1823 & Julia Ann? BERTRAND, are they the same or did one die young? Which one is yours and can you tell me which is yours and do you have more info (vital records dates/places, in-laws, names of all children, etc?) Eventually I plan on doing an article on the BOURASSA family of Mackinac for our journal Michigan's Habitant Heritage (pub. by the French-Canadian Heritage Society of Michigan.) Thanks, Jim.
