Ambrose Hummel, b. 1835 in Buffalo, NY, son of Michel and Maria (Rombach) Hummel, married Margaret Mersch around 1856 probably in Portage co., WI (marriage records no longer exist, but first child was born in Portage Co, WI in 1858). There may have been three other children, who were listed in the 1840 census, born in the 1830's.
