Hello listers - I feel that I should comment on Cherie's statement about the Mackinac Band. I met with the staffer there and found her to be unfamiliar with the original 1836 Half Breed Census. Since the band is basing their enrollment on Mackinac members listed, I was surprised at her lack of knowledge about the original document. The staff must have access to other versions of the census that is easier on 21 C. readers. I did not intend to impugn anyone's abilities or skills in the tribal office. Thanks! Terry Weller
