Marie thru ancestry or rootsweb and also thru Random Acts of genealogical Kindness. Type in a search engine RAOGK and you will find the site. Also try the Public Library on line for sault ste Marie. Just go to that search engine again. Also try a search engine search for Sault Ste Marie Genealogy and your names + family and + genealogy. You will probably get lots of info to help you.( try all different combos) Good Luck, Elly

I'm seriously interested in the Visnaw connection - my gg grandmother Marie Visnaw, sp. - John B Campbell - raised a large family in Sault Ste Marie, MI. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am at a brick wall would anyone be able to give me any info on the MCCALMON line. Thanking any help in advance Lynn Aziz from the area with a spring snow storm Canada
Kathleen - I have the Stella Obeshaw marriages for Mackinac Co. In case you dont have this: 561) Pierre Massinwenine of Pt. St. Ignace, Mackinac County, State of Michigan, age 19, and Maria Louisa St. Andre of the same place, age 17, married on 18 May 1863 in pres of Peter Pond and Maria Goudreau by ADJ Piret, Catholic Priest. Then going to my St. Anne's records, I did not locate a marriage in their records which is interesting because Piret did the marriage. Perhaps he was travelling - then where is that book? Perhaps I missed it. I did find a child: 21 Oct 1869 Clemence Delia Massway, parents Pierre and Mary, GF Adolphus St. Andre GM Rachel Benette. Hope this helps, Terry
Are you all aware of the CD "Mackinac Register 1695-1888?" It contains baptisms, marriages, and death records as recorded by the priests of the day. You might write to Ste. Anne's Church, P.O. Box 537, Mackinac Island, MI 49757. It's not very expensive. At least, it wasn't when I bought mine. We maintain the Michigan Marriage Index Database that has over 430,000 records of marriages that took place in Michigan. As part of our database we record the email address of researchers that have an interest in the various records. We have many records that have email address that are no long valid for one reason or another. One example is the shutting down of "@home.com". We have attempted to obtain accurate email address for those that are no longer valid, but, this has caused an expression of concern for many subscribers to the various mailing lists as they feel that we are overloading the system. We will no longer attempt to obtain correct email addresses. IF ANYONE HAS PROVIDED US WITH EMAIL ADDRESSES TO ATTACH TO THE MARRIAGE RECORDS AND HAVE CHANGED YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS PLEASE SEND US A MESSAGE THAT INCLUDES BOTH THE "OLD" AND "NEW" EMAIL ADDRESS. With several thousand email addresses in the database we cannot check everyones email so please only send us a message if you have had a change.
