I guess this is my best chance to jump in and, just maybe, at long last, make a connection. My ancestor is Thomas Mills, believed to be born between 1761-1770 in Washington County, PA. If he was not born there he was there from an early age as he married Hannah Winn d/o Joseph Winn and Polly Higgins in Washington County. Children were Sally 1794, John 1800, William 1804-07, Margaret 1808, James 1810-12, David Ervin (my ancestor) 1811-1820, Jonathan 1813. The family moved to Ohio (I believe to Harrison and Carrol counties first and then to Tuscarawas County) some time after the turn of the century. Sally m/ John Beamer; John m/ Margaret Hibbetts, William m/Catherine Strawn; Margaret m/ George Farabee thus fostering a long line of Farabees); David Ervin m/Ann(e) Russell; Jonathan m/Sarah Downing. My ancestor Thomas (1835) was the son of David Ervin. With all of the Millses who were in Washington County, I have always been puzzled as to why I cannot connect Thomas to the rest of them. I have for some time believed that Thomas is the brother of Carolyn's Joseph but have never been able to prove it. Perhaps if any of you from the Washington Millses can get a male Mills relative to enter his DNA we might be able top come up with something. My DNA is listed as number 5257. I have to believe that all of this must mean something to someone out there. I sure would like to hear from you.
