Dear Pat and all, Please, please, please do not continue to say Jonathan Mills married Martha Halstead! There is no evidence for it! He almost certainly married Martha Wood, daughter of Timothy and ___ (Strickland) Wood. That would explain where the name Timothy in the Mills family of Morristown came from. But if you can show me some solid evidence for the name Halstead, I'll be glad to consider it. Marna, if you've been on this list for awhile, I'm sure you've heard of my book on a line from George Mills of Jamaica, NY, through Jonathan, his son Samuel and his son Samuel to Timothy of Morristown who married Phebe Lindsley. The book then follows Timothy's half brother, but you can see a lot of good info on Timothy in the Morristown Presbyterian Church records that are on Heritage Quest Online. Yes, my database, bare bones vital records, is online, at WorldConnect on Rootsweb.com and in the Ancestry World Tree at Ancestry.com. But the book has far, far, far more information. It's available from the New England Historic Genealogical Society at www.NewEnglandAncestors.org. Click on store and my name as author. It's titled A MILLS AND KENDALL FAMILY HISTORY. Do not get confused with my book on descendants of Peter Mills of Windsor, Conn. That is a totally different family. My book disagrees with several "facts" about this family, such as that George came from Yorkshire and his wife was surnamed Tanner. My arguments are based on old contemporary documents, not on later compilations. You might google for my book. We had a booksale at NEHGS a few weeks ago and some dealers picked up copies at a ridiculously low price. So you might find it on someone's website for less than the $50 NEHGS charges. Helen Ullmann
