Hi Ernie, I'm descended from the Haywood Co. Mills, that lived on Scotts Creek which is now in present day Jackson Co. N.C. From what we know the Mills Family was in Montgomery Co. N.C. prior to moving to Haywood Co. N.C., and that Montgomery Co. is close to Guilford Co. which had a large Quaker settlement. There was a family living in Guilford Co. Deep River area, with the surname Mills many of them having given names that also appears among the Montgomery Co./Haywood Co. Mills Family...I had read somewhere that the surname Mills was one of the surnames among the Quaker community in N.C. May I ask what is your line of descent from Thomas Mills and Mary Mills ? Also in your branch is there a oral story of Native American descent ?
