With regard to the Mills Boston listing for John Mills, 1630 from Levanham, Suffolk Co., England. There is a listing in the passenger list for the Winthrop Fleet wherein this John Mills is listed along with other persons last name Mills. I to am curious as to the existence of a DNA participant related to this Mills line. I am a participant Kit #7952 and since my results were posted I have established that my oldest American descendant is William Mills, who arrived in Southern, Maryland circa 1658, Bn Cratfield, Suffolk County, England (very near Levanham, England) 1628. The name John is very popular in my family and from Church Warden Records of Cratfield Parish (The oldest Anglican Church records in England) the name John, Samuel, Edmund, Robert and other named Mills are referred to many times in the parish records as far back as 1523. That Levanham is so close in proximity to Cratfield and that this area of England was sparsely poulated and was rural in nature, it can be speculated that there may have been some relationship. Only time will tell. In my research I was able to locate a living family of Mills is Cratfield whose heritage in Cratfield dates back 350 years, though the family knew nothing of there ancestors. This family of Mills is elderly and are rural farmers and at this time are not willing to participate in Mills DNA project. I am staying in touch with and hopefully will visit them in Cratfield sometime late summer or early fall. It is my hope that I will be able to get to know this family of Mills as well as possible other Mills in the area and in the end persuade them to participate in the FTDNA Mills project.
