In case you don't know, it's in Kent, England. I'll explain how this is a 'Mills' family later. In Nov1784, soon after Joseph's birth, his mother Elizabeth 1757 married John Mills 1761 - presumably the father of Joseph. They therefore became 'Mills'. In 1841 the entire family were all named 'Mills', and, exc Charles, Ann, Joseph were at the Red House, Benenden, Kent. In 1851 none of them have been found in England, and Canada seems a good place for them to have gone. -- Dave.
Dave, I have a great grandfather, Joseph MILLS, born abt 1851 in Phila, PA to Joseph MILLS, born Eng & Hannah <unkn>, born PA. Since I don't have a birth cert on Joseph I haven't found his mother's maiden name. My great became a telegraph operator. He married Josephine MORAN VAN VALKENBURG in 1878 in Jersey City, NJ & had 2 daughters, the first born, Hannah, aka Dottie/Dorothy (go figure) in Jersey City in 1881, then back to PA for the birth of Blanche L, born May 1888. In 1880 they are in Jersey City & 1900 Census back in NJ. Jeanine NJ ftm.family48@ntlworld.com wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
