Mills, was born 05 Aug 1845 in Middletown, Orange Co., NY, the son of Coe Howell Mills and Mary Fullerton. (Coe Howell Mills parents were Peter Mills, Jr. and Deborah Howell.) Frank lied about his age and enlisted in Company C, First Regiment, New York Rifles, and served during the entire period of the war. He was awarded a medal by congress for distinguished gallantry in action at Sandy Cross Roads, NC, September 4, 1862, His final discharge was dated November 29, 1865. In 1870, Frank W. Mills is found living with his mother in Wawayanda, Orange Co., NY. At some point, he relocated to Crawford Co., PA where he married Mary Eva Birchard 20 Sep 1873. Together they had 3 children: Frank W. Mills, Jr. b. abt. 1875 (later found on Manilla, Philippines where he married and had children), Edith Mills, b. abt. 1877, and Clarence B. Mills, b. aft. 1877, died bef. 1880. Mary Eva Birchard Mills died bef. 1880. After his first wife's death, Frank W. Mills met and married Sarah A. McFarland. They lived out their lives in Butler Co., PA and had the following children: Maude, b. 1880, Mae A., b. 1882, Agnes F., b. 1885, Gussie, b. 1888 (my husband's grandmother), Mary A., b. 1889, Sara L., b. 1889 (twins), Esther, b. 1892, and William McKinely Mills, b. 1896. Frank W. Mills died 23 Nov 1923 in a hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. His wife Sarah preceded him in death - 25 Feb 1923. Now, if someone could help me crack MY Mills brickwall, I'd certainly appreciate it. William Mills of VA married Anna Rand Bostick of Stokes Co., NC. They moved to Yalobusha Co., MS where they had 7 children, including my gggrandmother, Sarah Ann Mills 1833-1914. But..........that's all a different posting. Lyn Magill-Hoch
