    3. FYI Listers interested in John Sr. b. ca 1688 m1 Rebeckah, m2 Rebeckah: There is a lot of erroneous information on John Sr. that has been propagated over the years. In this day and age it is impossible to remove an error. Today's research has one bad habit of forwarding anything found on the internet without any source references or a reference to another internet source. While some of the information can not be proven or disproved, I would recommend at the very least one attempts to locate a source reference. THE KNOWN FACTS ABOUT JOHN MILLS Sr. There was a fire in 1759 that destroyed all the records of Hopewell Monthly Meeting. These records would most likely had contained the information that everyone is searching out. ref. Source Hopewell Friends History 1734-1934 Vol I & II by Hopewell Friends. Recorded documents from MILLS VA times. 1. Thomas Mills & Elizabeth Harrold Marriage Record. Thomas was the first born, and first to be married on the "18th day of ye 4th moth Called June in ye year of our Lord:1730". Mary Harrold, mother of the bride was a widow, no male Harrold signature. These conclusions need additional sources, but are the strongest found proof to date. Wedding Ref. John Jr. also had a survey made by Robert Brooke on Middle creek for 408 acres, just north of his father's land, and received his patent from the Colony on the same date 12 Nov 1735. Ref. Source: ---- Brooke, Robert, Book of Surveys, Virginia Historical Society, Richmond, Virginia. footnote 1. 4.On 9 March 1743/44, John Sr. sold 307½ acres to his son Thomas for 30 pounds (Tract 38A), 150 acres to Jonathan Harrold for 15 pounds (Tract 38B), 250 acres to his son Hurr Mills for 12 pounds (Tract 38C), 207½ acres to his son Henry for 10 pounds (Tract 38D) and 100 acres to William Chenowith for 24 pounds, 5 shillings (Tract 38E). On 9 March 1743, John Mills Jr. transferred possession of 165 acres from his 408-acre patent land to John Beals for six pounds. (Tract 58A, Map 4) He sold the remaining 243 acres to William Baldwin for 20 pounds on 11 February 1752. Ref. This was land that Thomson had purchased from Thomas Mills. On 6 August 1750, John Sr. purchase 150 acres (Tract 38B) from Jonathan Harrold and his wife Catherin for 18 pounds. On 27 April 1753, he and his wife Rebecca sold the above 130-acre and 150-acre tracts (both part of the 1,315-acre patent land) to Jacob Rees for 82 pounds. Henry Mills and his wife Hannah sold 207½ acres (Tract 38D) to Morris Rees Jr. for 115 pounds on 27 April 1753. On the same day his brother Hurr Mills and wife Rachell sold 250 acres (Tract 38C) to Thomas Rees for 87 pounds, 10 shillings. Thomas Mills and his wife Elizabeth sold 307½ acres to Morris Rees Sr. for 150 pounds on that date also. (Tract 38A). Source Hinshaw Vol I page 374 and 409. More Conclusions. John Sr. may have never lived in PA, as the New Garden MM PA had members that lived in the Monoquisy MD area.
