    3. I found this Hur in Wilkes County Marriage Bonds (Index) page 176. Groom: Mills, Hur Bride: Margaret Tucker 19 May 1835 Bondsman: David Tucker Witness: Wm. M. Forester I remember seeing that he was a Quaker, but can't remember now where--but ruled him out as probably not one of my Mills. Also he was in Wilkes 30 plus years after my Mills had moved on. Dave <dt-mills@mailsnare.net> wrote: Rebekah, Not sure about your Hur Mills. I have 4 Hur Mills', with birth years of 1714, 1755, 1771 and 1781. Wilks Co. NC was formed in 1777 and it came from Surry Co. and the district of Washington (TN), go west to the new land. In the early 1800's there were two major moves by John Mills Sr. descendants and the moved to Clinton Co. OH and Jefferson Co. TN. Wilks Co. NC is about half way on the path to TN. NC Counties Are Confusing Many of the Counties in NC were divided and sub divided. So, while people never moved they may show up in several different counties. John Sr. and his first 5 children are examples. They all moved to Rowan in 1752 & 1753. In 1752 it was Orange Co. then in 1753 their land became Rowan and then in 1770 their land was now in Guilford Co.
