Fellow Mills researchers Let me throw another William in the mix. My William showed up in Alabama Pike Co on the 1850 census. pg 135 age 48 born in NC with: Ellender. (48) and Isaac (19), Andrew(17), James(12), Francis(10) and Henry(8) also listed with this family is a Helen Rhodes age 20. In 1860 he is in the Pike Co AL census pg 148 age 57 with Eleanor age 60 and Henry(18) and Sarah(12) next door to John Mills age 36 born in NC. The 1870 census of Pike Co. AL (beat 21 Troy) has a William age 69 born in NC with a Joseph,(20) Sally(22) and Matthew(14) next door to a Henry age 26 born in AL and another William age 68 born in NC (beat 21 Orion)with Susan E(21), Joel(20), George W(16) and Martha(13) all born in AL. I haven't sorted out which is the William who was married to Ellender/Eleanor yet. In 1840 there were several Mills' in Pike Co AL Solomon age 30-40 on pg. 371, Andrew age 40-50 on pg 378, James age 20-30 pg. 380, Moses age 60-70 and John age 30 to 40 on pg. 394. Most of these had large families and there are plenty of Mills' in subsequent census, but none of the above can be found in Pike in 1850 except for the John living next to William in 1850. There were no other males in Moses' household. I have no idea who Williams parents were. I found a few Williams born in NC. 1. born 2 Feb 1792 in Guilford Co to William Mills and Lydia Perkins this one is a about 10 years too early if my William was indeed 48 in 1850, 2. 20 Feb 1794 in Deep River, Guilford Co. to Aaron Mills and Charity Mendenhall, still a little early, 3. 20 Feb 1794 to Mordecai Mills and Charity Mendenhall, 4. 28 Feb 1794 Roan, NC to Aaron Mills and Charity E Mendenhall, 5. October 1798 to John Mills and Charity Mendenhall this one is a little closer in age, but now the question arises who was Charity really married to Aaron John or Mordecai. Folks I love a good puzzle but this is getting ridicules. I hope there is someone out there who can help me I would love to find Williams's parents and siblings if he had any. Any hints where I can find the info will be greatly appreciated. I have some info on his descendants and am willing to share.
