    1. Re: [MILLS] MILLS FAMILY
    2. HI Audrey: You post came through to the rootsweb mailing list too. I looked up the names and found a little bit on this William MILLS family. I did find William and children on the 1900 Census for Missouri. Dau Clara L May 1881 Dau Cora J April 1887 and Son Charles R March 1883 No spouse for William Listed. On the 1880 Census for Ashtabula Co. OH Found William age 28 BP all Ireland. Ella L age 26 BP OH for her FA OH for her MO NY Minnie Y or J age 1 BP OH There is a Charles R MILLS with spouse Lydia on the 1920 and 1930 Census in Toledo Ohio. with children William, Donald, Robert, Rose Mary. The birth places of his father mother check out. But the dates for him do not add up. But then, it may not have been he answering the census taker's questions for those information. Also saw same names on the Draft Card. Charles and Lydia in Toledo. On your first posting you did say whether or not William's siblings also came to Ashtabula Ohio?? I did check on rootsweb web site, and there is no William MILLS with father Samuel and mother Anne Jane. So it is just a new family MILLS not yet researched. Or at least I do not see it. Does any of this click with what you have so far??? Pat cw In a message dated 8/30/2008 8:05:01 A.M. It might be a long shot, I keep running into brick walls looking into my family. Very frustrating! I thought I'd just give it a shot to see if you might know something. Thanks in advance for any info that might connect. You say you saw message in ROOTSWEB? The link from where you read the information did not attach, so do not know which MILLS family you were referencing. Were you saying you thought that family might be related to your William? of Portageville, MO. Just asking. Pat cw In a message dated 8/30/2008 1:53:52 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time, [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) writes: Hello! I saw your message in ROOTSWEB and thought I'd email you to see if there's anything I have that would match your information. My Great Grandpa William (no middle initial) Mills lived in Monaghan, born in Dublin, Ireland May 1851 - parents were Sam Mills b. 1824, Anne Jane (Smyth or Smith) b 1826, they were married in 2-23-1849. GGpa William came to USA in 1872 and lived in Ashtabula, OH. His siblings were: Mary (?) b. 1854 George b. 1861 Andrew b. 1864 Eliza b. 10-27-65 Margaret or Maggie b. 5-68 Sarah b. 6-20-1871 Samuel b. 1874 They all came over after GGpa Wm. in 1880. GGpa William ended up moving to Portageville, Missouri where he died in 1911. It doesn't seem likely that Mills family in Monoghan WOULDN'T be related in some way. Not really a common name in Ireland. I have more info to share if you're interested, although my info is limited because I work on this stuff sporadically. Thanks!
